Judge of the Probate Court in and for said county
Your Petitioner, Joniah Sanford respectfully showeth, unto your Honor that the letter of
Administrations was granted to your petitioner by your Honorable court on the 21 day of
May 1856, upon the estate of Siddy Haws, deceased, that said estate is in debt to a
considerable amount, but your petitioner knows not the amt of said indebtancy, that it
will be necessary to sell the personal property if the estate to satisfy said debt, that
said estate is possessed of the following slaves, to wit, Phillip about 55 years
old, Jimmy about 45 years old and Dorinda, a girl about 14 years old, also some
cattle & one horse, ? petitioner furthers sees that it will be necessary to sell the
above Negroes and personal property to pay the debts of the said estate. Would
therefore pray your Honor to grant to him an order to sell said mentioned slaves and other
property to pay the debts now outstanding & those against said estate.
